Mina Mae Hohlen, 74, of Washington DC passed away on March 11, 2022. Mina was born on November 8, 1947 in Lincoln, Nebraska . She attended Hanover College in Hanover IN and then went on to get her BA and MA in Sociology from Indiana University. Mina worked as a research analyst and director of data management from 1981 to 1988 at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. She worked for several pharmaceutical companies before being employed by the FDA as a Regulatory Information Specialist in 1995. She retired from the FDA in 2016.
Mina was preceded in death by her father Karl Hohlen and mother Juanita Craig Hohlen of St. Louis, MO. She is survived by her brother, John Hohlen and sisters Elizabeth Hohlen Pfleger and Linda Hohlen Deutsch along with four nieces and one nephew.
In her spare time, Mina enjoyed gardening, traveling, the arts & ballet, the museums of Washington, reading, experiencing new cuisine and a variety of cultural events. She had a pleasant personality, a quick smile and enjoyed being around friends, especially children. She had an inquisitive mind and a thirst for learning. She was beloved by many friends in St. Louis, Chicago, Arlington, VA and Washington, DC.
She loved her time in Chicago and her “Chicago bungalow” home. She lived in the Ballston area of Arlington for several years before moving to Northwest DC in 2016. She was active in the landscaping, walking and dinner groups in her co-op/condo building.
