Dr. John A. Tague, 68, of Arlington, VA passed away Monday, September 12, 2022 at Virginia Hospital Center, Arlington, VA of carcinoid heart disease. Visitation will be held at Murphy Funeral Home, 4510 Wilson Blvd, Arlington, VA 22203 on Friday, September 16 from 4pm to 7pm. Burial will be private.
Born September 27, 1953 in Waukegan, IL, John was the son of the late Joseph Tague and Juliana Tague (Mathers). After graduation from Downers Grove North High School in 1971, he attained a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois and served in the U.S. Navy for five years. He then earned his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from Penn State University. He was named a 2020 Outstanding Engineering Alumnus by Penn State.
Dr. Tague worked for the Office of Naval Research from 1998 until his death. In 2015 he received The Department of the Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Award for his technological contributions to the submarine, surface ship, air and surveillance communities.
John loved spending holidays at the Walt Disney World Resort and was especially fond of the Animal Kingdom theme park.
John is survived by his sisters Joanne Rouffa (Paul) and Jeanine O’Neill; nephews Carl Rouffa, Dan Rouffa, Neil Conn; niece Leah Conn.
