Gerard Christian Nezet, 73, passed away in Arlington, VA on April 17th, 2024. Gerard was preceeded in death by his parents, Rene and Yvonne Nezet. He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda, of 41 years and his daughter, Jodie Bochert (James) of Fairfax, VA and his 2 grandchildren, Joshua (9), and Kayleigh (6). He is also survived by his brother Phillip Nezet (Christy) of Orange, CA, his sister Jocelyne Pasquet (Bernard) of Cedar Park, TX, and his 2 nieces, Sandra Mena (Carlos) and Sylvie Islas. He will be greatly missed by countless friends and community members.
Gerard and his family moved from France to Maryland when he was a child. Following in the footsteps of his father, Gerard became a barber and barbershop owner. He was very skilled in his craft and had a unique ability to make connections with customers young and old. As a young adult, Gerard began working at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC where he met his wife, Linda. In 1983, the two married and in 1984 they welcomed their only child, Jodie, into the family. Gerard spent his life caring for his family, displaying his genuine love and support to them.
Gerard loved being “Papa” to Joshua and Kayleigh. He was often found on the sidelines of basketball courts or soccer fields, on the pool deck at swim meets, and in the audience of dance performances. He was so proud of his grandchildren.
Gerard participated in track and field during his high school years and continued his passion for the sport as a member of the Potomac Valley Track Club and participated in track meets for USA Track and Field Masters competitions. He received many accolades in the high jump.
Throughout his adult life, Gerard demonstrated a unique ability to work with his hands. He loved to create, and he designed and carried out many renovations in the family home.
Gerard gave the gift of conversation and laughter to all he spent time with. He will be missed by so many. All who loved him will treasure the precious memories they have of him.
