Eugene Robert Muth, age 84, of Arlington, Virginia, died on Saturday, August 12, 2017. A dentist and retired Colonel in the U.S. Air Force, Dr. Muth was born in Dayton, Ohio, a son of Richard and Ruth Muth. He graduated from Oakwood High School, studied at the University of Dayton, and graduated from Marquette University’s School of Dentistry. During his long career in the U.S. Air Force, Dr. Muth served at bases in Europe and the United States, including Wright Patterson.
His wife, Mary Carol, died three years ago. He is survived by four daughters and their families (Michelle and Jack Person; Julie and Gene Saunders; Cecilia, Marc and Damien Young; and Monica, Bob, Isabella and Adam Pell) and four sons and their families (Matthew Muth; Mark, Tess and Erika Muth; John, Kate, Sean and Michael Muth; and Paul, Kim, Zachary, and Hannah Muth). He also is survived by a large extended family, including his sister, Barbara Muth, a member of the Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati, and many nieces and nephews--the children of his siblings, Mary Muth Krach, Richard Muth, Omer Wollenhaupt and Dale Wollenhaupt, who preceded him in death.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 16, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Arlington, Virginia. Burial will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, his children kindly ask you to consider a donation to Wreaths Across America (wreathsacrossamerica.org), which every December coordinates wreath laying ceremonies to honor veterans at Arlington National Cemetery and more than 1,200 locations in the United States and around the world.
