Yvonne Persley was born on October 12, 1939 in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Yvonne was surrounded by her children at home when she entered Heaven’s gate on March 17, 2018.
She was an LVN and worked in hospitals that included Charity Hospital in New Orleans, Baylor Hospital, Forest Hill Nursing Home and John Peter Smith Hospital in Texas. She was committed to providing compassionate care to all her patients. After retiring from nursing, Yvonne served as a ministry partner with her husband Rev. Henry E. Persley. She served as first lady at Mt Zion United Methodist in Belton, Texas, St James United Methodist Church in Waco, Texas and other small churches in the Central Texas Conference. After retiring from the ministry, Yvonne returned to live in Fort Worth with her husband. She spent time working in her garden, painting, knitting and crocheting. She would often give hand-made gifts to graduates and newborns.
Yvonne was preceded in death by 2 children, Anthony and Antonio, her loving husband of 55 years, Henry Edward, sisters Gloria (Ross) Harrell, Dianne (Ross) Loeb, brother Joseph Ross, Jr. Yvonne is cherished in memory by: daughters, Phyllis (Charles Scott) and Kimberly. Sons, Henry III (Tiffany) and James (Alusina Kamara); grandsons, James Persley Jr, Charles Scott, Henry Persley IV, Anthony Persley, Samson Persley, Jonah Persley; granddaughters, Ashley Scott, Sarah Scott, Carolyn Persley, Kamara Persley, sisters Delores Bauman and Elaine Lenore, Brother Edward Ross; great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 22, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Moore Funeral Home. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held the following day on Friday, March 23, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Moore Chapel 1219 N. Davis Dr., Arlington, Texas 76012
