He attended school at Reagan Elementary, Washington Junior High, and San Angelo Central High.
To earn money during his teenage years, Roy worked on farms chopping and picking cotton, plowing fields, feeding cattle and hogs, milking cows on a dairy farm, and also as a busboy and dishwasher in a restaurant.
He retired from the Army on February 28, 1982 at which time he went to California to work for Litton Corp which sent him to Saudi Arabia to work. Roy and his wife, Barbara, were in Saudi Arabia for 16 years at which time he retired in 1999.
Since then, they traveled in their RV to 45 of the 50 states and the last 9 years, they spent their summers in South Fork, Colorado at the Fun Valley Family Resort.
Roy is survived by Barbara, his wife of 40 years, 5 children, Sherrie DuVal, Troy DuVal, and wife Stacey, Gary Barton and wife Tina, Michelle Bazet and husband Robert, Jason Barton, and 7 grandchildren.
