Dr. Groves was born on February 11, 1939 in Huron, South Dakota. He was a resident of Arlington for most of his life. He was a graduate of Mineral Wells High School, the University of South Carolina, where he played baseball, and the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry. Dr. Groves practiced dentistry in Arlington for 48 years where he specialized in Cosmetic Dentistry and Implantology.

He was a member of Crossroads Christian Church in Grand Prairie, TX, and past president of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Arlington where he spent countless hours volunteering and mentoring young boys. He loved playing golf with his friends and hunting with his boys.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Claire and Lenna Groves and his brothers Norman and Gene Groves.

Rodger is survived by his longtime love of 10 years, Cynthia Eddleman of Arlington; sons Keith Groves of Houston, Ron Groves and wife Kelly of Southlake, Justin Groves of Fort Worth; daughters Christa Hodnett and husband Greg of Keller, Cathy Thompson and husband Matt of Arlington, and Mandy Groves of Arlington; 10 grandchildren: Haley, T.K., Ashton, Chandler, Jarrett, Kasey, Gabriel, Reese, Allison, and Garrett; 2 great-grandchildren: Layne and Lyla; Brother Dick Groves and wife Cookie of Suwanee, Georgia; sister Joyce Thompson of Crete, Nebraska; sister in law Margie Groves of Daphne, Alabama.
