Robert Lynn Dunson, 85, of Arlington, Texas, passed away to be with Our Savior on January 16, 2024, at his home in Arlington while surrounded by his family.
Bob was born on November 6, 1938, to Jesse Dunson and Velma Stacy in Stephenville, Texas. Bob graduated from Texas Tech University in 1960 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and from SMU in 1966 with an MBA. Bob also served for 8 years in the Army Reserve.
Bob was married to Linda Dunson on August 29, 1981 and they blended his 3 children and her 2 children. Bob and Linda recently celebrated their 42nd anniversary.
Bob enjoyed a prestigious 32-year career at Texas Electric Service Company (TESCO), now known as TXU Energy, until his retirement when he formed his own consulting firm, Dunson Cogeneration. While consulting, he worked closely with Tenaska Energy, Inc. Bob was passionate about his work, loved to talk about electricity and power plants, and could fix anything.
Bob was a member of the Rotary Club and previously served as president of Toastmasters, Texas Society of Professional Engineers (TSPE) and the Fort Worth Reddy Speakers Club. He acted as the TXU liaison to the Public Utilities Commission and worked closely with Congressional Representatives.
Over the years, Bob served at Bethel United Methodist Church, University Methodist Church and Fielder Church in numerous leadership roles and was a very active member. His commitment to his small groups was very important to him. He and Linda support three Compassion children in Colombia and traveled to visit them several times. They also enjoyed annual ski trips and beach vacations with their family and Bob was an avid runner and participated in multiple races.
Bob is predeceased by his parents, his brother Van Dunson, his sister Sharon Dunson Wooten, and his beloved grandson Jason Frederick.
He is survived by his wife Linda Dunson, daughter Kathryn Dunson Wicker (Lee), son Stephen Dunson (Jennifer), son David Dunson (Joanie), daughter Anieca Frederick, and daughter Susan Thomas. He is also survived and blessed by 10 grandchildren: Michael Thomas (Sarah), Megan Thomas Quezada (Richie), Jessica Harrington (fiancé, Evan), Ryan Dunson (fiancé, April), Jackson Wicker, Collin Dunson, Drew Dunson, Abby Dunson, Paige Dunson. He is also survived by 4 great grandchildren: Austin Frederick, Naomi Thomas, Heidi Thomas and Nolan Quezada.
Viewing will be held at Moore Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens on Monday, January 22, 2024, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.
