Nancy Kathleen Schneider

Nancy was born on January 25, 1938 in Pilot Point, TX. The Home was called Rest Cottage and was associated with the Nazarene Church. She was adopted by Hubert and Flora Crawford, Lubbock, Texas. She did not find out she was adopted until the age of 12. She thought the idea of adoption meant she was “special” as her adopted parents choose her.

She was raised a Baptist and she accepted Jesus at the age of 12, at a “tent revival”. She was active in the Women’s Bible Study in St. Barnabas UMC. She also volunteered as a counselor for Open Arms Clinic. She was instrumental in guiding Stan in accepting Christ.

Nancy was a talented pianist and watercolor artists. She loved reading and attending book clubs, listening to her favorite music, watching movies, and making stain glass. She also loved traveling and her two favorite places were Santa Fe, NM and Austin TX.

Nancy was raised in Lubbock TX, where in 1956 she married Jan Stanley, her high school sweetheart. They had two daughters: Linda Carol Geis, Louisville KY, and, Sharla Elizabeth Allen, Grand Saline TX. Nancy met Stan Schneider in Lubbock, TX in the spring of 1971 and got married on October 26th 1974. They were married for 49 years, Stan stating that marrying Nancy was the best thing that had ever happened to him. They have a son, John Anthony Schneider Sr., and helped raised one grandson, Dustin Wayne Busby, both of Arlington TX.

She graduated from Lubbock High School, She received a BS Degree from Texas Tech in Education. She later attended UNT, Denton TX, where she received a BS Degree in social work, as well as a Master’s Degree from UTA. She then passed the LCSW Texas exam to become a licensed clinical social worker/therapist, and began what was once a dream of hers. Nancy was a counselor for 15 years. She loved counseling with individuals, families and couples. She liked the idea of understanding and working with people.

She is survived by her beloved husband and ten grandchildren as well as many other family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly request that donations be made in her honor to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Association.
