Louis was born in Chicora, Mississippi, to George W. Bragg, Sr., and Elizabeth Marie Bragg in 1928. He entered the US Navy at age 17 to serve in WWII. He was married to Shirley Windsor on August 21, 1954. He graduated from North Texas State University with a BS in 1953 and a MS in 1957. His PhD was from University of Texas Austin in 1964. He was a Professor of Biology/Botany at UT Arlington for 34 years. He was a member of Phi Delta Kappa, Kappa Alpha Order, Botanical Society of America, Texas Academy of Science, Society of the Sigma Xi, Texas Society for Electron Microscopy (President), the Electron Microscopy Society of America. He was a member of the Pantego City Council for 12 years, Mayor Pro-Tem for 5 years, and President/VP for the Pantego Economic Development Cord. He was a Deacon in the First Presbyterian Church in Arlington.
Survivors: Louis was preceded in death by his brother, George Bragg. He is survived in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Shirley Bragg; children Debbie Williams and husband Gary, Susan Bragg O’Keefe, David Bragg and wife Kim; grandchildren Gregg Williams, Jordan Williams, Bryant Williams, Josh Bragg and Rachael Bragg; and 2 great-grandchildren.
