Linda Nevius Groves, born on February 14, 1939, in Emporia, Kansas, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2024, at the age of 85. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred I. and Muriel Nevius, and her brother, William T. Nevius.
Linda married her high school sweetheart, Rodger Groves, on June 14, 1958. Together, they had four children. She was a dedicated homemaker until their divorce in 1977, after which she worked as an administrative secretary for the Dallas County Community College District, raising her children as a single mother.
Throughout her life, Linda was deeply involved in her church communities. While married, she attended First Christian Church in Arlington, where she and Rodger were active in the couples ministry, forming lifelong friendships. Later, she attended Crossroads Christian Church in Grand Prairie, where she was affectionately known as the "queen" of the Boomers class.
Linda was known for her warm and loving nature, never meeting a stranger. She enjoyed reading, solving crossword puzzles, and was an avid fan of the Texas Rangers, never missing a game on TV. Her favorite place to spend time was her summer cabin in the Colorado mountains, which she fondly called her "Special Place in Time."
In 2014, Linda was diagnosed with esophageal cancer and was given a short time to live. However, she defied the odds and fought bravely. Ultimately, she succumbed to COPD.
Linda is survived by her children: Keith Groves and his wife Patty, Ron Groves and his wife Kelly, Christa Hodnett and her husband Greg, and Cathy Thompson and her husband Matt. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Haley, TK, Ashton, Chandler, Jarrett, Kasey, Gabriel, and Reese, as well as her great-grandchildren: Layne, Lyla, and Lawson.
The funeral service to celebrate the life of Linda Nevius Groves will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, October 18th, at Moore Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 1219 North Davis Drive, Arlington, TX 76012.
