Jesus T. "Chuy" Garcia

Jesus T. “Chuy” Garcia, age 93 of Arlington, passed away on February 2, 2019 with his loving family at his side. He was born on March 25, 1925 in Los Pozos, Mexico, the son of Virginio Garcia and Anita Tovar. Jesus married Ofelia R. Garcia and they celebrated 67 years of marriage together.

Jesus and his family are members of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church in Arlington. Jesus worked for many years for the City of Dallas, and operated movie theaters as a member of the Motion Picture Operator’s Union. Upon retirement, Jesus enjoyed spending time gardening, taking care of his lawn, and enjoying the time outdoors. Jesus’ family was his greatest pride and joy, and he devoted his time to providing for them and ensuring they achieved their goals.

Jesus is survived by his wife, Ofelia; children Maria de Jesus Garcia Davis and husband Don, Martha Imelda Garcia Raper and husband Michael, and Anna Lucina Garcia; grandchildren Jay Patrick Davis and wife Casey, Jeffrey Jesus Davis and wife Sarah, Sean Phillip Davis and fiancée Miranda, and Kathryn Ofelia Raper; siblings Rafael Garcia and Manuel Garcia. Jesus was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings Jose Garcia, Teresa Garcia, Maria Garcia, and Reina Garcia.

Funeral mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 8th at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church. A rosary will precede the mass at 9:30 a.m. as the beginning of the rosary Novena continuing daily at the family home at 8:00 p.m. and ending on February 16th. A private family interment will follow the funeral mass at Moore Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, family requests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the James L. West Alzheimer’s Center.
