Jack Clifford Jenkins, 68, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 4th, 2018. He passed away peacefully while sleeping in his favorite recliner during the Super Bowl. Visitation will be on Thursday, February 8th from 6-8pm at Moore Funeral Home in 1219 N. Davis Dr. Arlington TX. Funeral Services will be on Friday, February 9th at 10:00am at First Baptist Church of Grand Prairie at 950 Mayfield Rd, Grand Prairie, TX.
Jack was born in El Paso, TX on September 12, 1949 to Robert Lee Jenkins and Clytie Adams Jenkins. He attended Dishman Elementary in Combs, Texas and later moved to Harlingen where he attended Gay Jr. High and Harlingen High School. He graduated from Mercedes High School in 1968 and later attended college at Pan Am University and University of Texas at Arlington.
Jack had a wide variety of interests and talents throughout his life in which he exceled. Jack was wildly intelligent and especially gifted in Math in which he won many competitions. He was a founding band member for the Intriguers in the 60’s where he sang vocals and played bass guitar. He was an exceptional bowler and rolled many perfect 300 games. He was an avid golfer, blackjack player, P1 and sports lover who loved debating sports trivia with anyone who was up for the challenge.
The most important thing in life to Jack was his faith and his family. He was a strong believer and accepted Jesus Christ as a young man and was a member of First Baptist Church of Arlington. He married his loving wife Teresa on March 10, 1979. Together they raised their family in Grand Prairie while teaching those same values and beliefs to their children. Jack’s strong work ethic and tireless long hours built his successful business of over 50 years, Jenkins Roofing of Grand Prairie. Jack cared deeply for his employees and customers, many of whom have been loyal to him for decades. His pride in his family and his business was apparent to anyone who knew him and was the driving force in his life.
Jack is survived by his loving wife Teresa, daughters Lisa & husband Daniel Olivarez (San Antonio) and Tina & husband Hal Mayo (Keller), sons Todd Jenkins & wife Suzanne (Arlington) and Jacob Jenkins & wife Lori (North Dallas), grandchildren Benjamin Thomas, Iker Ramirez, Ashley Martinez, Madison Thomas, Garrison Thomas, Brittany Gruhot, Lane Mayo, Daniel Olivarez Jr., Lucy Jenkins, Jordyn Jenkins, Kennedy Jenkins, and Knox Jenkins, sister Helen Moore, brothers Samuel Jenkins and John Jenkins, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and their families. Jack was preceded in death by his father Robert Lee Jenkins and his mother Clytie Adams Jenkins, and brothers Bobby Glen Jenkins and Lee Dow Jenkins.
