Dan Ray was born April 21, 1941, in Tyler and grew up in Grand Prairie. He served for six years in the United States Marine Corps Reserve with his best friends, Gene Robinson of Grand Prairie and Mickey Lagow of Kaufman. He graduated with a civil engineering degree from Arlington State College, now the University of Texas at Arlington, in 1965, and married Rosemary Paterson on July 4, 1970. He was a soccer coach, a hunter and a fisherman. His career took him to live in many wonderful places, including Arlington, Corpus Christi, Duncanville, Denver, Colo., Seattle, Wash., and Lake Charles, La. He finally settled back in Arlington in 2004 and retired from Northrop Grumman in 2006. In retirement, he took up golf, rekindled his love of fishing and became an active grandfather by helping with transportation and never missing a soccer or T-ball game. Dan Ray and Rosemary were happily married for 41 years.
Dan Ray will never be forgotten for the honorable man he was and he will be forever missed by his adoring family.
