Scott was a hardworking family man. He worked with his dad, Charles Durkee, at Fire Power Systems, Inc. for over 20 years. He had the most brilliant, driest, and sarcastic sense of humor. He took great pleasure in making people laugh with his off color and often shocking quips. He loved a good debate, and on occasion, he’d stir the pot just to see if he could get one started. He also enjoyed fishing with his father on Bull Shoals Lake in Arkansas. Scott had a passion for guns- heavy firepower. He said they were to protect his family from zombies…just in case.
He was a wonderful son, and the best big brother a little sister could ask for. Scott was an amazing father and so proud of all his kids. He deemed it most important for him to set an example of what a loving father and husband looked like. He loved his wife, Melanie, deeply, and he made sure to tell her every day how much he adored her. They never parted ways without a kiss goodbye.
Scott is survived by his wife, Melanie; his children, Caitlyn and Chloe Durkee; his stepchildren, Reed and Lily Saenz; his father, Charles Durkee; his mother, Kitty Durkee; and his sister, Katy Durkee.
There will be a viewing on Friday, September 8, 2017, at Moore and Sons Funeral Home on Bowen Road from 5-9pm. A celebration of Scott’s life will be held Saturday, September 9, 2017, at Walnut Creek Country Club in Mansfield from 6-10pm.
