Born January 2, 1925 in Arlington, TX (Tarrant County) to Buena Ell Barnes Davis and Dr. Charles Harold Davis, the second of two daughters. She grew up on W. Abram, near her grandmother, aunts and several other close family members, where she learned to garden, sew, and cook and shared afternoon coffees and homemade ice cream. She graduated from Arlington High School in 1942 and continued her education at North Texas Agricultural College (now University of Texas at Arlington). With her sister Mary Anne, she worked in administration for defense contractor North American Aviation. There she met Allen J. Miller of Dallas, TX and they married on November 4, 1944. The evening the armistice was signed ending World War II, radio news alerted them that their jobs were over at North American.
Charlene and Allen soon moved back to Arlington, TX where they built a home on land gifted by her mother. There they raised two daughters, Jan and Susan. They were active in First Presbyterian Church of Arlington for many decades. Charlene was a loving, devoted and dedicated wife and mother.
She is survived by her daughters: Jan Miller of Arlington, TX and Susan Miller Stewart and son-in-law, Stan, of Spring Hill, Tn.; 3 grandchildren: Caroline Stewart, Trent Stewart and Chloe Stewart of Spring Hill, TN, and one great-grandchild, Cameron. Survivors also include niece, Tisha McDuff of Nampa, ID. Charlene was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sister, Mary Anne (Davis) McDuff, brother-in- law, R.J. (Red) McDuff, and nephew, Michael Allan McDuff. Charlene is also survived and preceded by innumerable friends and neighbors that she treasured throughout her life. The family is deeply grateful for the support and care provided by staff at Meadowbrook Memory Community.
