Bobby Frank Kirkland

Born on March 3rd of 1939 to the parents of Lloyd and Violet Kirkland in their River Oaks home. He grew up working in his father’s Sinclair gas station and discovering his love of cars and all things mechanical. He also met the love of his life there by an odd the chance of a damsel in distress with frequent flat tire.

Bob joined the Air Force soon after high school and began serving his country as an aircraft mechanic in Okinawa Japan and Guam. During this time, he persuaded his now wife of 61 years, Flora Mae Teague to marry him on June 3rd of 1962 and begin their lives together. They went on to have two children, Vernon and Dennis and provided them a loving home and a wonderful childhood.

He started a very long and successful carrier at Bell Helicopter as an assembly mechanic where he retired in 1999 after 33 years of service. During his off time, he enjoyed tinkering with old cars and being the neighborhood “Fix It” guy. There were countless cars, a boat and several kid toys brought back to life in that garage of his. He also enjoyed competing in a local sanctioned drag race events with either his 57 Chevy or 96 Impala.

His love for his family and friends was unwavering. Over the years Bob found God and was saved in 1995 where he served the lord as the needs arose. He made several friends in his walk with God that have become lifelong family.

Bob was predeceased by Lloyd (Father), Violet (Mother), Sonny (Brother), Jean (Sister), Merritt (Brother). Bob is survived by Flora (Wife), Vernon & Colleen (Son & Wife), Dennis & Melony (Son & Wife), Grandchildren Michael, Shelby, Walter, Shane, Chris & Brandon. Great Grandchildren Colten, Octavia & Mathew.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the specialolympics.org or Alzheimer’s disease and Research.

A visitation for Bobby will be held Thursday, October 12, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 North Davis Drive, Arlington, TX 76012. A funeral service will occur Friday, October 13, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, 1219 North Davis Drive, Arlington, TX 76012. A committal service will occur Friday, October 13, 2023 from 2:30 PM to 2:45 PM at Dallas Ft Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211.
