ARLINGTON -- Billy Morris Sparkman, Sr went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 27, 2011.Visitation will be 11:30 Tuesday at Moore Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held Tuesday November 1st at 12:30 in the Moore Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at DFW National Cemetery
Bill was born May 9, 1931, in Dallas, to Lawrence and Winnie Sparkman but grew up in Como, TX. He married Mary Earlyne Thompson on August 21, 1954 in Grand Prairie.
Bill served in the United States Navy, as a dental technician, from 1950 to 1970. He was aboard the USS Repose during Vietnam.
Bill graduated Cum Laude from Texas Wesleyan University in 1973 with a Bachelor of Business Administration. He served his country throughout his career, as an accountant for the Defense Department.
Bill enjoyed sports and the outdoors. He especially loved the Texas Rangers and was a fan from day one.
Bill devoted his life to the service of family and country. He was beloved by his family and many friends and will be remembered as an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Bobby and J.R., and sister Ruth.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 57 years Mary; a son Billy Sparkman Jr. and his wife Neil of Clarksville; a daughter Susan Ward and her husband Kelly of Arlington; sisters Dorothy Housewright, Edna Earl Pinnell, and Mary Watkins; grandchildren Justin, Lee, Amanda, Ashley, Joshua, Allie, and Sarah; and four great grandchildren.
