Betty Ann Eisner

Services are scheduled for 2pm Saturday, February 24, 2024, at Moore Funeral Home North Chapel, 1219 North Davis Drive, Arlington, TX 76012. Following chapel services, interment will take place at Moore Memorial Gardens in Arlington.

In honor of Betty, memorials may be made with flowers or a gift to the Human Society of North Texas, 1840 East Lancaster Ave., Forth Worth, TX, or to Mission Arlington, 210 South St., Arlington, TX.

Betty Ann was born to Louise and Kenneth Zong of State College, PA on August 12, 1932. She attended school in Statesville, NC where she was a majorette in the high schools marching band, then she moved to Washington, D.C. Her first employment there was for the Air Force where for several years she was involved with the verification and collating of UFO sightings. Betty was then hired by the CIA through 1962, but never did reveal her duties. In 1958 she met “the love of her life”, Len Eisner, a Naval officer and fighter pilot who was stationed in Washington at the time. They were married in the nearby Fort Myers Chapel, on the grounds of the Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA on September 3, 1960. In 1962, Betty and Len, who had recently been promoted to full Commander in the Navy, were transferred to the Naval Air Station in Agana, Guam in the Marianna Islands. In August of 1963 their first son Gary Kenneth was born, shortly after a devastating typhoon almost destroyed the island. In 1964 Len received orders back to Washington where they bought a home in Alexandria and in 1968 Betty and Len had their second son, Douglas Alan.

Soon afterward, Len retired from the Navy and the family moved to Arlington, TX where he was employed by Vought Aircraft as a project engineer. Betty, who always loved flowers, joined and became very active in a local flower club. In time and with much effort, she was very proud to be appointed a Master Flower Show Judge in the Texas Garden Club Inc. organization. She particularly enjoyed arranging flowers and being a long time member of the Pantego Garden Club where she won dozens of first place Blue Ribbons for her flower show entries. Her garden club members were very precious to her and she always looked forward to the lunches and companionship they shared together. Betty had a great love for birds and animals and contributing to their welfare was a highlight in her life. At one point, she had a bird habitat with food and water constructed outside her large kitchen window so she could watch the many varieties that came to feed. Betty and Len had several dogs and cats, though not at the same time, throughout their marriage, and she loved them all dearly. Many animal shelters and societies will miss her loyal support. Still, her husband and sons were always primary in her life and her devotion and love for her family were well known to her friends.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband Len with whom she shared her love for over 55 years, their son Douglas, and her step-son Leonard Eisner Jr. and Shelly Eisner.

Survivors include her son Gary Eisner and Donna Eisner, Betty’s step-grandchildren, Dylan and Emily Powell and granddaughter Layla Powell; step-daughters Pam and her husband Phil Hof, Darcy Eisner and Janet Eisner, and many step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. And of course the beloved feline members of her family, Pepper, Ziggy and Kodi.
