She was born on January 9, 1934 to Junior D. and Minnie May Button in Austin, Texas.
In 1952, she graduated from Brackenridge High School in San Antonio and four years later, in 1956, she received her Bachelor’s Degree from Southwest Texas State University. She went on to teach at Kelly Air Force base and then continued her career at Florence Hill Elementary School in Grand Prairie, Texas. She was a member of the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America, the United Daughters of the Confederacy, Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Daughters of the American Revolution, and Magna Charta Dames. Betty was a board member of the West Presbyterian Church and the first woman on the Tax Equalization Board in Grand Prairie, Texas.
Betty married the love of her life, James Wendell Davis, in 1957. Together, they raised their children and lived happily until James’ passing. Nothing brought more joy to Betty than her family, especially her grandchildren.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents Junior and Minnie Button, her husband James Wendell Davis, and her sister Jean Jones.
She is survived by her daughter LeaAnn Davis Stephan and husband Sam, son Scott Davis, grandchildren Abbey, Laurie, and Josh Stephan, as well as other family members and friends.
A private committal service will be held at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.
