Alberto was born to Leonora and Eliseo Manahan on May 11, 1940, in San Miguel Bulacan, Philippines. He graduated valedictorian of his high school in Isabella and went on to earn both his undergraduate and medical school degrees from the University of the Philippines in 1965. He became chief resident at UP-PGH while training in Otolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery. Alberto was a proud member of Upsilon Sigma Phi ‘59 fraternity and Phi Kappa Mu ’61. He was the first person in his family to immigrate to the United States in 1970.
Alberto established a successful private practice as an otolaryngologist and reconstructive head and neck surgeon in the Dallas Fort Worth area for over 40 years. He served as President of the North Texas Association of Philippine Physicians (North TAPP) from 1982-1983 and President of National UPMASA (University of the Philippines Medical Alumni Society in America) from 1995-1997. He received the Most Outstanding UPMASA Alumni Overseas award in 2002 for his numerous charitable contributions.
His passions included traveling the world, providing medical and surgical services to the underserved in the Philippines through both North TAPP and UPMASA, constantly expanding his knowledge on the many things that interested him, and spending time with his family, fraternity brothers, and friends.
Alberto is survived by his daughters Elnora (Rodney) Lehman and Jacqueline (Timothy) Wilson; grandchildren, Alexander, Lindsay, and Zachary Lehman, Kate and John Wilson; sisters, Amelia, Zenaida, Reynalda, Maria Lourdes, Maria Teresa; brothers George, Eduardo and numerous nieces and nephews. Alberto was preceded in death by his loving wife of 38 years Josephine; infant son Alberto Jr, parents Eliseo and Leonora; and siblings Leonila and Antonio.
Visitation and rosary will be held on Wednesday, June 28th from 6:00PM – 8:00PM at Moore Funeral Home (1219 N Davis Drive, Arlington). Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, June 29th at 11:00AM at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church (2100 N Davis Drive, Arlington) followed by burial at Moore Memorial Gardens. Reception to follow at the Most Blessed Sacrament Church reception hall.
