Jeffrey P. Ulbrich, 45, of Chicago, grew up in Mt. Prospect. He was born on April 17, 1979 and died on December 18, 2024 due to complications from treatment of recently diagnosed colon cancer. Jeffrey attended St. Raymond elementary school, St. Viator High School, and Southern Illinois University. He was an artist – music was not just a hobby or occupation, but a way of life. The avenue he felt most alive. He was an elite/mastery guitar player of literally ‘every’ genre. He was established in the Chicago music scene, creating and performing with a variety of bands, typically ones he formed or led. A partial list includes Nocando, Languish, Jenny’s Way Out, Halfway Jane, Lucid Ground, The Touch, Rhone, Big Bird, Death Pose, and From Beyond These Walls. He helped fund this passion by being the heart and soul behind the bar of many Wrigleyville nighttime institutions such as Trace, G-Man Tavern, and the Metro – within steps of his beloved Cubbies. While live music (creating, performing, or listening) was his preference, as back up, he had what seemed like the world’s most extensive vinyl record collection. He was a mentor and source of encouragement to many musicians and artists. An absurdly talented gardener. Most importantly, he was a kind, gentle, loving, beautiful man with a heart of gold – a gift from his soul on how he could make you feel. He was loved by thousands.
He was welcomed into heaven by grandparents he adored.
He is survived by his devastated family: the love of his life, his partner Daniela Milinkovich, his mother Marsha Ulbrich, his father Richard (Kim) Ulbrich, his siblings: Lisa Ulbrich, Rick (Sheila) Ulbrich, Delaney (Ross) Tomczyk, & Cory (Megan Jaenicke) Ulbrich. A caring, encouraging, and supportive uncle to Mackenzie, Chris, Leah, Colin, Noah, James, and Lennie. Additionally, he was cherished by many aunts, uncles, and cousins, and so many grieving friends. The ‘coolest’ dude each of them knew.
Services include visitation on December 26 from 4 to 8pm, at Lauterberg-Oehler funeral home at 2000 E. Northwest Hwy in Arlington Hts. Then on December 27, at St. Raymond de Penefort at 301 S. I-Oka in Mt. Prospect there will be a visitation from 9:30 to 11am followed by an 11am funeral mass. Internment at St. Michael the Archangel cemetery at 1185 Algonquin Rd in Palatine.
