Daniel R. McGovern

Daniel R. McGovern, 76 of Arlington Heights was born October 25, 1944 in Chicago to Richard and Edna (Lange) McGovern and passed away August 12, 2021. Dan is a graduate of St. Edwards Grammar School, Roosevelt High School and Chicago State Teachers College where he majored in Chemistry and Zoology. He had worked for Johana Western and retired from Underwriters Laboratories in 2006. Dan loved music and played in an orchestra with his friends Dave, Ken, Chip and Don. He was active square dancing and that’s where he met his wife Pat. Dan was a member of the Des Plaines Elks Club, Knights of Columbus Holy Rosary Council #4483, Square Spares & Pairs and Arlington Heights Squares. Dan was the beloved husband of Patricia A. (Tichelaar) Schuls McGovern and the late Lois C. McGovern; loving step-father of David Schuls; dear brother of James (Diane) McGovern, Michael (late Susan) McGovern, Kathleen McGovern, Timothy (Reena NeGandhi) McGovern and Brian (Rita) McGovern; fond uncle of many nieces and nephews and brother-in-law of Gertrude Tichelaar, Dorothy Tichelaar, Richard (Nancy) Tichelaar and the late George (Carolyn) Tichelaar and Rosemary (late Louis) Occhetti. Visitation will be Monday, August 16, 2021 from 4-8 PM at Lauterburg & Oehler Funeral Home, 2000 E. Northwest Highway, Arlington Heights and Tuesday, August 17 at from 10:00 AM until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Wayside Church, 440 S. Mitchell Avenue, Arlington Heights. Entombment will follow at All Saints Cemetery.
