Born in Olean, NY, Chuck spent much of his childhood in Franklinville, NY, before moving with his family to Robertsdale, AL. He later entered Georgia Tech on a National Merit Scholarship, graduating with a BS in physics. Service in the U.S. Army brought him to Arlington Heights, IL, where he met and married Leslie Cooper (nee Griffith, d.2003) and acquired an MBA from Northwestern University.
After a successful career in marketing and consulting, including time at Coca Cola and Kraft Foods, Chuck’s last endeavor was as a technology specialist for Fourth Presbyterian Church in Chicago. Dedicated to service, he volunteered with several Presbyterian organizations, including PADs, Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, Montreat Youth Conference, and the Pantry on Church in Marietta, GA. He also enjoyed spending time canvassing in support of democracy, and would have encouraged you to vote this November.
Chuck is survived by his three sons: David (Kristin), Arlington Heights; Andrew (Lindsey), Madison, WI; and Daniel (Jessica), Chicago, and six grandchildren: Patrick, Oliver, Landon, Sam, Mabel, and Greta. He is also survived by his long-term partner, Sandra McQueen, Smyrna, GA, and sisters-in-law: Sue Cooper, Patricia Creighton, and Susan Ford as well as numerous cherished nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 12th, at 2:00 PM, at First Presbyterian Church in Arlington Heights. The service will be live-streamed (link to come).
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, Southern Poverty Law Center, or the charity of your choice.
