Irene Rich Guthrie passed away Sunday, January 7, 2024.
She was born November 4, 1944 in Durham, NC where she graduated from Durham High School and attended Atlantic Christian College. Her extended career with the Randolph County Schools endeared her to students and faculty. Predeceasing her are her parents, Hazel Satterwhite Rich and Forest Rich, her husband, Paul Guthrie and her brother, Sam Rich. Irene enjoyed gardening and her role as a homemaker.
She is survived by her son, Paul Guthrie II of the home and her twin sister, Ilene Craig of Greensboro, NC. She spent many good times with her dear, lifelong friend, Adonna Paschal with whom she shared a love of animals and close family friend, Randy Anderson.
A Celebration of Irene’s life will be held Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at 2 p.m. in the Advantage Funeral & Cremation Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service beginning at 1 p.m. Memorials may be directed to any local animal rescue organization.
