On Monday, November 26th Robert Shell , the beloved father of David (Denise), Patricia (John), Jeffrey (Valerie), and Christine(Joe) died of complications of a long battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. In addition to his 4 children, Robert has left behind six wonderful grandchildren and four adorable great-grandchildren. He spent his early youth in San Francisco before moving to San Diego. On occasion, he would return to San Francisco to visit relatives. It was on one of these visits, he met his future wife June of 40years. After serving in the Air Force during the Korean War, Robert moved his family to the San Francisco Bay Area where they lived till 1960.
He spent most of his professional career, working in the electronic industry. His company, AMPEX, transferred him to Los Angeles in 1960. He and June raised their children in the San Fernando Valley. During this time, Robert worked at AMPEX, tried his hand at his own business, a SHELL gas station, and program management at ITT Gilfillan.
In 1989, Robert and June moved to McKinleyville. They had bought June’s dream house and expected a long retirement and happiness in that dream house. Unfortunately, soon after the move, June died. In 1992, Robert met his future wife Jeanette. Sadly Jeanette died in February of this year.
Robert had become a pillar of strength in Mckinleyville. He studied hard and became a Deacon of the Catholic Church. He served his local church, Christ the King for many years. He took particular pride in helping the elderly. Robert and Jeanette also were very active in local bowling leagues and his beloved local Moose Lodge.
He will be missed and loved by his family and many friends in his community.
