Joseph Donald Smith

Major (Ret.) Joseph Donald Smith, a Vietnam veteran, left to be with his Lord on March 11, 2022. He was born in Rome, New York, on February 23, 1940. Joe was a farmer for 21 years, served in the Air Force for 21 years, and worked as a teacher in the Adelanto School District for 21 years.

Joe enjoyed golfing and traveling. He was an elder and Sunday School teacher at Church of the Valley. Joe served on the board of directors at Sun Country Bank. Major Smith was a member of the Military Officers Association of America. He was on the President’s Council for Providence St. Mary Medical Center and active in the Victor Valley Community Concert Association.

Joe is survived by his wife of 60 years, Rosanne; son Michael; daughter Karen (Chris); grandchildren Dalton (Cheyenne), McKayla, Katelyn and Nick; sisters Barb (Lou), Jane (Bob), Joan (Kevin), Rose, Betty (Larry) and Donna; brothers James (Dawn), John (Mary), Ted (deceased) and Howard (Brenda).

A Celebration of Life will be held on April 23, 2022, at 1:00 PM at Church of the Valley, 20700 Standing Rock Ave. in Apple Valley.
