Donald Aaron Cox

Don grew up working in the family orange groves and citrus packing business, among the sweet-smelling orange blossoms, which he loved. In his youth, with his free spirit and independent nature, Don hit the road and spent two years in the Flathead Valley of Montana working as a cowboy nicknamed Tex. When he returned to California, he spent his early twenties racing flat track motorcycles and immersing himself in the racing culture.

He met his wife Judith Vaill in his mid twenties, while working as a bartender, and they were married in the summer of 1961. Shortly afterward, they began a family and were blessed with three children. A natural risk taker, Don loved to fly airplanes, and was able to obtain a small plane and spend years flying around the state and across the country with his wife and children.

Don’s charisma and interests led him to the profession of real estate appraisal. His attention to detail and understanding of his practice, kept him working well into his 80’s. He was well respected in his field and served many years on the San Bernardino County Tax Board.

Don was a charming, enthusiastic, positive man, who loved his wife and family dearly. He lived his life with integrity, curiosity, and passion. He his survived by his wife Judy; his children: Stacy (Dan) Cagle, Dana (Wendy) Cox, Karen (Ron) Shamblin; his seven grandchildren: Derek Shamblin, Devon (Justin) Walsh, Daniel (Autumn) Cagle, Melissa and Savana Cagle, and Kyle and Kelsey Cox; and his six great-grandchildren: Abbi, Liam, Gavin and Killian Walsh, and Arlo and Eleanor Cagle.

The family would like to express appreciation for the outpouring of love toward Don and his family, and gratitude for all those who knew him and took part in shaping his life. He will be missed. A celebration of life will be determined at a later date.
