Shirley Lyn Rose Overton-Lewis, was born on November 23, 1941 to Alma Sterling in Glengoffe, St. Catherine, Jamaica, West Indies. She migrated to London, England at an early age to join her mother and stepfather, Vincent Davy. Shirley pursued a career as a Legal Secretary, She then migrated to the United State of America in November, 1979 where she continued her career.
Shirley was first married in London, England to Vernon Overton who is now deceased, she later found love again and married Geoffrey Lewis in Bronx, New York.
Shirley retired from the law firm of Morgan, Lewis. Subsequently as time passed her traveling spirit led her to relocate to Apopka Florida in 2005. Her desire to be of service and remain active led her to work as a school crossing guard, yet again exhibiting her care and concern for her community, an admirable trait of Shirley's many have come to know.
With her heart for service and in an effort to remain active, she worked for a short while as a school crossing guard to provide community service.
She was actively involved in the Pine Hills Senior Center, as well as her church, Plymouth Church of Christ.
Over the years, she made many friends and developed deep relationships; When Geoff became ill, many of those close friends would often lend a helping hand as she diligently cared for him at home.
Shirley loved to cook and bake and looked forward to hosting her annual Mother's Day and Thanksgiving Day dinners with everyone going home with a doggy bag or two.
Shirley was very fashionable and enjoyed buying clothes, shoe, handbags and hats. She was a shopper in her heyday. She was so kind hearted, and very giving to the very end. She was always thinking of the needs of others. She had a big heart of gold.
Shirley is predeceased by her parents and first husband, Vernon Overton. She is survived by her husband, Geoffrey; children, Steven with wife Tracy and Colin; 2 stepdaughters, Michelle and Kim; 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Lorna Davy; brother, Martin Davy; and a host of extended family & friends to mourn.
May her Soul Rest In Peace and Light Perpetual Shine Upon Her
