Mary was born in Illinois on July 17, 1926 to the late Herbert and Christina Meadows. Mary was the beloved wife of fifty two years of the late Robert Edward Boyd.
Mary had the kindest and most generous soul. She enjoyed spending time with her family & friends. She loved to learn and continued to challenge herself to explore as much as possible. Mary was an avid reader; usually reading one to two books a day. She loved her weekly visits to the library, gathering classical literature and historical biographies. Mary was passionate about the arts, loving to create various forms of art including writing poetry, pencil drawing and oil painting. She found peace walking through gardens and listening to the sounds of the birds, admiring the colors of the flowers and studying various plant life. Due to her caring nature, Mary pursued an Associates Degree in Nursing while in her 40s. Upon graduation from Nursing School, she worked as an Emergency Room Nurse at a hospital on the South Side of Chicago for over a decade.
Mary will be lovingly remembered by her sons, James Boyd, Robert Boyd, Donald Boyd (Nancy) and David Boyd (Susan); grandchildren, Jennifer Stout (Robert), Melissa Dubree (Eric), Katie Boyd (Brianne) and Ian Bronswick; great-grandchildren, Rilee, Brayden, Kailyn, Evan, Liam and Vada. She is predeceased in death by her sister, Elizabeth Cook.
A memorial service will be held at Apex Funeral Home on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at 3:00 PM.
