Lorraine Williams Kane, 63, of Cary, died at her home on Thursday, June 5, 2014. She was born in Wake County, NC on August 12, 1950 to Jeter Williams and Hazel Reams Williams. Lorraine is preceded in death by sisters: Katy Jo Williams, Wanda W. Sorrell; brother: James “Macon” Williams; and nephew: Charles Lambert. She graduated from East Carolina University in 1972. Lorraine was a teacher for almost 25 years, working at Camp Lejeune and in the Wake County Public School System. She lived in Guam for approximately 3 years and resumed teaching when she returned to NC. She loved teaching, reading, shopping, the beach, boating, movies, and being with her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, John M. Kane; sisters: Mackie W. Lambert and Nancy W. Britt, both of Apex; sister-in-law: Eliza C. Williams of Apex; nephews: Matthew Lambert (Anita) and Stephen Lambert (Brandy), Jimmy Williams (Kelsey) and niece: Dawn Staley (Will) all of Apex; one great niece and three great nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 4:00 pm Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at Green Level Baptist Church, Cary, NC 27519. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the graveside.
