Judith Lewandowski, of Apex, North Carolina, passed away after a unexpected and brief battle with cancer, on Thursday, August 24, 2023.
Judy was a cherished wife, fabulous mom, and top-notch grandmother.
Mom, you had a strength and optimism and faith which guided you through your life from the Angel Guardian Orphanage to your final rest in Apex, NC.
Born in humble conditions in Chicago on Nov. 1, 1940, you spent your childhood with the Angel Guardian Orphanage from 1943 until 1959. You graduated but were surprised by life outside of the Catholic Orphanage. But you, your brother, Joey Aguilera, and all your sisters, Patricia, Shirley, and Marion Aguilera excelled in such a way, it should be a novel.
Along the way, you met with more than your share of adversity, mom. From being orphaned to facing situations that would have shattered others. You followed your instincts, found your own path, and through it all showed yourself to be the most loyal person we have ever known.
So loyal, mom. All of us can tell stories of you, your silly ways, your animated gestures, but always with light and good heartedness. You always had our backs, no matter our good or bad decisions. You loved us all unconditionally.
Judy Lewandowski, or "Honey," "Judy Lew," "Mother," "Mama-jamma," "Grandma White-Dog," or "Judy," you were something unique and special to each of us, and constant and true to all of us.
We will miss you, lovely woman. But your family, Larry Lewandowski (husband of 52 years), Karl Kwiatkowski (son) and Diane Castillo (Karl's wife and lovely daughter-in-law), John Kwiatkowski (son) and Donna Kwiatkowski, (John's wife and splendid daughter-in-law), and Cristina Oliver (nee Kwiatkowski) will carry you always in our hearts and actions.
And for many generations to come, your stories will be told by seven grandchildren who loved you, including Dr. Kristin Robinson (36) and our dearest Dr. Chris Robinson (38), and Judy's 1st and 2nd great grandchildren, Cade (3) and Keira Robinson (15 mos.), Karl Kwiatkowski (33), Paris Emily Oliver (21), Ethan George Oliver (17), Arabella Kwiatkowski (9), Aaron Kwiatkowski (7), Ace Kwiatkowski (3 wks).
We will each carry your name and wisdom for generations to come, mom! But your stories live through so many more extended family including Joey Chwastek (nephew), Debbie Chwastek (niece and mom to Alex Farley and Zack Farley), Terry Chwastek (niece and mom to Crystal Baker--married to Brad Baker with babies Owen (3) and Reid (15 mos). Stosh Chwastek and wife Kham, daughter Sophie and son Nate.
And for her friends over the years. Please know she held you in her heart. She held you in high esteem and told us so many stories from the orphanage, to Dunn and Bradstreet, the Duchossois Group, from Motorola to AT&T. Whether mom lived in Chicago or the Suburbs, Tucson, AZ or Apex NC, we've heard your names mentioned with fondness and respect from Judy Lewandowski.
Say "Hi" to her in Heaven, everyone, for that is where she is. In lieu of any flowers, please contribute to your favorite local charities. She had a giving spirit, perhaps you know.
