Howard Ronald Scott

Born November 5th 1946, Howard Ronald Scott was the middle son of Bernice Roane Scott and Russell Finley Scott. He was raised in Richmond, VA with his brothers and many relatives. Howard attended Maggie Walker High School where he played baseball and football. After high school, he attended Norfolk State University and graduated with a B.S. degree in industrial engineering.

Howard taught drafting at Indian River High School in Chesapeake, VA for two years, post college graduation. Many of his students had to be taught geometry in order to complete the drafting assignments, which he taught them as well. Many of those students went on to become licensed draftsmen and worked at the US Naval Base in Norfolk, VA.

Eventually, Howard became a Special Agent with the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, and later with the Postal Inspection Service. He helped solve many important cases, including a significant insider trading case. After retiring from the special agent business, he worked as a budget director for the US Postal Service.

Howard, or “Biggie’s” singular passion was golf. His clubs were always with him. He golfed all over the country, at some of the finest courses (Pinehurst being one of his favorites), and as he would say, at some “dirt tracks” too. For several years after his retirement from USPS, he continued to play, and “work” at Knight’s Play in Apex.

Howard was predeceased by his parents, Bernice and Russell and his eldest brother, Russell Jr. He is survived by his two children, Ronald H. Scott and wife Michelle Scott; Kim S. Ebert and husband David Ebert; six grandchildren James, Jordan, Preston and Kali Scott; Joaquin and Oscar Ebert; his youngest brother, Stuart Scott and wife Blanca Scott; as well as cousins, friends and golfing buddies.
