Faye Dent Edwards

Faye Dent Edwards, age 88, of Cary, North Carolina passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2024. She was born on November 22, 1935 in Columbia, South Carolina to parents, Samuel Epps Dent and Edna Elizabeth Dent.

While Faye spent her early years in South Carolina, she later moved to the Philadelphia area and graduated from Germantown High School in 1953.

She later moved to Carolina Beach where she joined the family real estate business as a broker and agent. It was there that she met her future husband, Jimmie Edwards. After a whirlwind romance, Faye and Jimmie married on April 6th, 1975.

She began her new life with Jimmie in the Carpenter community and immediately immersed herself in the life of living and working on the family tobacco farm. After several years, Jimmie and Faye retired to Grayson County, Virginia. After some time they returned to the homestead to be close to family.

Faye was always happy and outgoing. She never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone. She loved to dance especially to old time rock and roll. She had quite the music collection along with her vast doll collection.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to her caretakers. Rebecca, Happy, Nadia and Sam provided outstanding care these past few years.

Faye was predeceased by her husband, James Carl Edwards, Jr.

She is survived by her sons, Michael (Erin), Rickey, and Garry (Jeanne). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Caroline Nickel (Wiley), Carl Edwards (Line), Hannah Edwards, Steven Edwards (Lauren), Chesley Edwards (Madeline) and Zack Edwards; and six great-grandchildren.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Good Hope Baptist Church in Cary, North Carolina. Funeral Services will begin at 12:00 Noon in the Chapel, with interment to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Durham, North Carolina.
