My heart is broken as I've just learned of Don's passing. After becoming friends nearly 35 years ago at JE Sirrine, his stories and humor always kept me laughing. My deepest sympathies to Evelyn and his family as they have lost a true treasure. Rest in peace my friend.

How blessed I am to have known and worked with such a gentleman.  I greatly admired his work ethic, his willingness to help others and his beaming personality.  To his family and friends, I extend my condolences.  Our prayers are with you during this difficult time

We will miss Don very much. We're thankful for his friendship and the many times we spent together with the Gillespie family.   So many good memories. I struggle to put my thoughts into words as they will never adequately express the love and respect I have for Don.  I have worked for Don pretty much from the time he joined CA.  He was my coach, my leader, my confidante, and my friend.  I think we spent as much time talking about our families (our kids and grand kids in particular) as we did work.  He earned my respect every single day by the way he treated others and cared for us all.  He made me want to be better and to try harder.  I will miss him in my life but am so very blessed to have been a part of his.  Love you Don and thank you for all that you gave of yourself to us!

Don has always held a special place in my and my brothers' hearts.  He was can do, people trusted him, & people bonded with him.  The way he cherished his family always put him on a higher plain in everyone's eyes.  He succeeded in business and excelled in life.  Don we miss you already, but know your spirit still shines bright.  I pray those rays are reaching your family now in their time of need.

Mr. Gillespie was a dear, brave man.  I am sorry for your loss.  You and your family are in my prayers.

I just learned of Don's passing. We worked together at JE Sirrine and also at Fluor Daniel. We had such good times together. I always remember his smile, his laugh and sense of humor. Evelyn, may the love of God comfort you with the loss of Don.

I am so saddened to hear of Don's passing.  My prayers go out to Evelyn and family.  I had the pleasure of supporting Don at CA, and so appreciated his leadership, kindness toward others and his friendship.  He had a way of leading and supporting others, like no other! I met Don in 2010 as one of his customers. He made a lasting impression, was trustworthy, and always willing to help.  He was a true Partner in business.  A few years later I joined the CA team and had the pleasure to work with him again.  Don helped me navigate through the business and provide mentorship and guidance.  Don, I consider you a good personal friend.  You will be missed.  My prayers go out to the Gillespie family.

Don was a great mentor for me, and I really enjoyed the time I worked with him.  He was widely respected, and one of the warmest, most authentic people I've known.  Don, I know you gave it your all, as you've always done.  Rest well...until we meet again.

I have lost a dear friend and a guide. My life is richer for having known him over the last five years. His booming voice, infectious smile and ever positive attitude will be with me forever. I will cherish those Friday morning forecast conference calls, with his purposeful and gentle leadership. I will miss him tremendously.

Don was my manager and mentor and, more importantly, my friend. We shared some great adventures and a few fun nights with the banjo at the cabin. I will miss you buddy. Save me a seat.

Don was an incredible person and my best friend growing up in Greenville. I will always cherish my memories of the times we spent together during a very important time in our lives. My prayers are with you and your family Evelyn.

Don "Yogi" is a special friend and I am going to miss him.  Deepest condolences to all of his family and friends.  My children and all of the scouts who hiked and camped with Don are better people today because of the time he spent with them, and his tremendous sense of humor.  Rest in Peace my friend. We were saddened to hear of the passing of Emily's father.  We were fortunate to have met Emily last year as she came to our home to support our daughter's Walk to Cure Diabetes team.  Our daughter, Taylor Mowery, graduated from Appalachian with Emily and currently resides close to her in Charlotte.  While we have only known Emily a short time it is quite evident of her strong character - a character formed by great parents.  We know you will all miss your husband and father, but pray that the memories you hold will bring priceless comfort.
