Diego, 36, of Apex, NC left this earth on Friday, December 1, 2023.
He was born on December 2, 1986, in Santa Cruz, Bolivia as a beloved son to Carlos Alberto Nunez and Faith Rhonda Nunez (O’Byle). Diego spent the first 17 years of his life in Santa Cruz. His childhood was filled with helping his father and mother with their restaurant and bakery, playing soccer with his brothers and friends, gathering with family, and visiting his grandfather on the ranch.
In high school, Diego and his family traveled to America where he spent the rest of his life. A graduate of Fleetwood High School (2005), Diego spent his Junior and Senior year of school playing sports, learning English, making friends, working, and meeting his future wife. He continued his education at Kutztown University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration (2009).
After college, Diego married the love of his life, Sarah Nunez (Vodzak), on May 28, 2011 in Lansdale, PA. Together, they built a life full of laughter, adventure, love, and meaning. Diego earned a job promotion which led to them relocating to North Carolina. There they welcomed their daughter, Viviana, in 2016 and their son, Victor, in 2019. Diego loved being a husband and father.
Diego worked hard and earned success in the many industries he worked in from insurance to telecommunications to technology. In each area of his professional career, Diego excelled and fluidly advanced while inspiring and mentoring others. His work ethic and team approach were acknowledged through numerous awards and well-earned trips.
Diego experienced and achieved so much in his short lifetime. When he reflected about what his life would ultimately mean, he was always guided by his dream to create a family. He knew that his life would be remembered – not by his achievements, but through the love and ever positive outlook he shared with everyone he met. This will continue through his greatest accomplishments, Viviana and Victor.
Diego had infectious charisma, to know him is to love him. Whether you were merely in his presence, listening to him speak, or you were a dear close friend, he left a lasting impression on so many people all around the world.
Diego’s legacy is carried on by his devoted wife Sarah (Apex, NC) and amazing children Viviana (7) and Victor (4), his father Carlos (Raleigh, NC), mother Faith (Philadelphia, PA), brothers Jose (Andrea) Nunez (Pottstown, PA), and Pablo (Jessica) Nunez (Reading, PA). He is also memorialized by his in-laws, John and Ann Vodzak (Youngsville, NC), sisters-in-law Jennifer (Mark Yinger) Vodzak (Kennett Square, PA), Laura (Steve) Kobak (Middleburg Heights, OH), Becky (Brian) Norby (Pittsford, NY), 7 nephews (Rafael and Benicio Nunez, Trevor Nunez, Logan and Conrad Kobak, and Alexander and Zachary Norby) as well as extended family of several loving aunts, uncles, and cousins, and countless friends.
He is preceded in death by grandmother Gloria Jean O’Byle, grandmother Arminda Rodriguez de Nunez, and grandfather Walter Nunez Rivero, former Commander of the Bolivian Naval Force.
