David Glen Shippy, 67, of Moncure, NC and Dayton, OH, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 28, 2022 with family by his side. Born on July 20, 1954 in Panama City, Florida, he was the son of the late Glen and Sylvia Shippy. He is survived by the love of his life, Holly Shippy.
Dave was a loving and devoted father and is survived by his daughter Shandra L. Middlekauff (Todd), stepson David Murphy, and stepdaughter Brooke Gillen. He was and will forever be the most amazing grandfather of Cooper Glen Middlekauff, Leeya Murphy, Mia Murphy, Alyvia Colvin and Henry Wildenhaus. He is also survived by his sisters Paula Griffin (Michael) and Carla Daly (John) and brother Kurtis Shippy, along with many nieces and nephews.
He was a member of the VFW, the Moose Lodge in Beavercreek, Ohio, Indian Motorcycle Riders of Charlotte, and Cross Assembly Church in Raleigh, North Carolina.
David grew up farming alongside his father which truly began to mold the man he was all his life until he went home to be with God. Throughout his career he worked for various gas companies throughout the Midwest and lastly in North Carolina where he was greatly respected and loved by all his crew members.
David enjoyed every single moment he spent with his loving wife. They created so many memories together, from motorcycle trips all over the place with their best friends Jim and Shay, vacations and long weekends with family and friends, snuggling by the campfire, going to church and reading their daily devotions. The marriage and love between the two of them was one that showed the world that true love existed. They were inseparable. You would see them always smiling and laughing with one another. Together they were a force to be reckoned with. They got things done.
The bond he shared with his daughter was like no other. They truly were two peas in a pod. Together they could finish each other’s sentences and always knew what the other was thinking. She was the love of his life and he was her hero and best friend.
David adored his grandson Cooper. Crazy how genes work, because his grandson is just like him. The love for life, his quick wittiness, care for others, and giggles that filled a room when they were together. They were two old souls. He loved watching his grandson play baseball and was beyond proud.
David was the definition of a caring, loving, empathetic, and “drop everything for anyone” man. He brought such comfort and compassion to anyone he crossed paths with. He was a godly man who loved the Lord and is now with him for eternity.
