Funeral service for Jimmie Doyle Currie, 91, of Anniston will be 2 pm Thursday, January 18, 2024 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with Dr. Bill Snow officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 1 - 2 pm at the funeral home. Mr. Currie passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2024 at Anniston Health & Rehab.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Currie, daughter, Vonda Tankersley (Bruce), son, Arlan Currie (Wanda), four grandchildren; Brant Tankersley (Joy), Kallie Gallahar (Blake), Amanda King (Pete) and Melinda Ward (Nathan), seven great grandchildren; Emily Tankersley, Brady Tankersley, Brock Tankersley, Lauren Gallahar, Payton Gallahar, Blane Gallahar and Samuel Ward, two sisters, Olean Waits Mewbourn and Mary Estes.
Mr. Currie is preceded in death by his parents, Jabe and Mattie Currie.
Pallbearers will be Brant Tankersley, Blake Gallahar, Pete King, Nathan Ward, Vance Fleming and Steve Fleming.
Mr. Currie was a native of Randolph County and a resident of Calhoun County for most of his life. He attended Edgewood Congregational Methodist Church. Mr. Currie was a U.S. army veteran. Mr. Currie loved God, his family and his country. Special thanks to Anniston Health & Rebab and Enhabit Hospice for their loving care.
