James F. Roper Sr.

Anniston– Funeral services for Mr. James F. Roper, 82, of Anniston, will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with Rev. Emmett Roper officiating, with burial to follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Glencoe, Al. The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Roper passed Sunday, July 15, 2012 at Jacksonville Medical Center.

Mr. Roper is survived by his wife, Barbara Roper; daughter, Frances Weathington; sons, James Roper Jr. of Denver, Co, and Steven (Linda) Roper; sister, Velma Patty of Montgomery, Al; three grandchildren, Melissa (David) Schlerf, Dana (Torsten) Meier, and Luke (Elizabeth) Weathington; three great grandchildren, Dillon, Joshua, and Asher Schlerf;

Pallbearers will be Max Weathington, David Schlerf, Reginald Jacobs, Kyle McNair, Houston Jackson, and George Kauffman.

Mr. Roper was a native and lifelong resident of Calhoun County, retired from Alabama Power Company after 40 years, he was of the Methodist Faith, and served in the U.S. Air Force.
