Bobby Ray Haynes, 69, went to be with His Lord on November 2, 2023, after a courageous battle with kidney disease. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 5 at First Baptist Church of Oxford at 3:00 PM. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until the time of service at the church. Dr. Jim Auchmuty and Rev. Gary Cornelius will preside at the service. A private burial will be held at Forest Lawn Gardens on Monday, November 6th.
He is survived by his wife, Susan P. Haynes; his daughter, Ashley (Cody) Newberry; his son, Graham (Destiny) Talley; his grandchildren, Cooper Newberry and soon to be born, Jace Talley, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He is proceeded in death by his first wife, Audrey J. Haynes; his parents, Lowell and Katherine Haynes; and his brother, Gary Haynes.
Bobby was a member of First Baptist Church, Oxford. He was a graduate of Anniston High School and Jacksonville State University. He retired from the Revenue Department, State of Alabama, after 37 years of service. He was a retired AHSAA football official with the East Alabama Association in which he refereed for over 25 years. He was an avid Alabama fan, golfer, and loved to ride his Harley.
Pallbearers will be Rob Jones, Jeff Burney, Billy Sanderson, Larry Stubbs, Jimmy Buckelew, Randy Lovvorn, Cecil Drummond, Keith O’Dell, and Sean Hayes. Honorary pallbearers will be his card playing buddies and former football officials.
He will be greatly missed by those who loved him and are left to cherish his memory. We look forward to reuniting with him in Heaven.
We would like to thank all our family and friends who have prayed, loved, and supported us during his illness. We genuinely appreciate the doctors who have cared for him, Fresenius Anniston staff for the compassion they’ve shown and to the RMC 9th floor staff and CAT team who took such great care of him the last 30 days.
Flowers are welcome but donations to the American Cancer Society or to First Baptist Church, Oxford in memory of Bobby would also be appreciated.
