Funeral Services for Billy Ray Maddox “Bill”, will be Thursday, October 18, 2018 at First Baptist Church of Saks. Visitation will be at 1pm and service at 2pm. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn in Golden Springs. Pastor Dr. Todd Stewart and Buddy Nelson officiating. Mr. Maddox passed away peacefully, Saturday, October 13th, at the VA Veterans Home in Pell City. Mr. Maddox is survived by his devoted wife, Dean Maddox of 61 years. Two daughters, Terri (Flint) Nunnelly of Ohatchee and Sarah Cosby of Geraldine. Two sons, Bruce Maddox of Jacksonville, and Jerry (Irlene) Maddox of Albertville. Grandchildren Jennifer (Robert) Ellis, Amy Nunnelly, Jefferey (Susan) Maddox, Jerred Nunnelly, Terri (Robert) Rodriguez, Steven Culbert, Mark (Niki) Maddox and Anna Maddox. 13 great-grandchildren, 2 great- great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sister, Eulene Burdine, and brother Ellis Maddox. He is preceded in death by his parents W.G. and Leoma Maddox, brother, Euell Maddox, sisters Avery Stevens, Idell Westbrook, and Thelma Phillips. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Gamel, Larry Love, John Reynolds, Robert Ellis, Mark Maddox and Jerred Nunnelly.
Mr. Maddox was a native of DeKalb County and was a resident of the Saks Community for 43 years. Mr. Maddox was retired from Marine Corp of 21 years and Anniston Army Depot 20 years. He was a devout Christian and loved his church, First Baptist of Saks and Uneedus Sunday school class, which he was a member for many years. He loved his family and served his community by helping many people. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Saks, or Alzheimer’s Association.
