Tim "T.O." Brian O'Rourke

Timothy Brian O'Rourke ("Tim", "T.O.") was larger than life and truly had a heart of gold. He never failed to greet all those he knew with a BOOMING hello and a GIGANTIC bear hug. His positivity was endless, and he always left an impact on those whose lives he touched. He was a natural leader whose winning presence allowed him to take control of various situations with ease. Equipped with a clear and calculating focus, he possessed a tough-minded, “take charge” attitude, possessing the ability to make even routine situations seem exciting.

Born March 2,1966, he was raised in Farmingdale, New York by his parents, Don and Maureen O'Rourke (nee Koenke) and his brothers, Michael, Dennis and Kevin. Even as a child, Tim was always able to express himself well, possessing strong interpersonal skills that garnered him friends everywhere he went. He was optimistic in his outlook on life and was able at all times to be open and direct in his communication. Armed with a great sense of humor and wit, Tim was raised to be accepting of others and to implement a strong personal work ethic. Blessed with a balanced attitude, Tim was able to relate well with others, with a strong desire to be treated fairly and readily offering others the same fairness in return.

He showed his athletic ability early and enjoyed playing lacrosse, basketball and soccer. He was a member of the Police Boys Club Basketball & Lacrosse Team and played football with the Farmingdale Hawks, receiving an endless stream of athletic trophies in the process. His family fondly remembers he was always playing some type of sport, including street hockey, wiffle ball and stick ball, and that he always had a knack for getting stitches or breaking any nearby window with a ball.

He graduated from Farmingdale High School in 1984 always noting that his favorite teacher was Mr. Archie Defendini (aka Coach D). Tim will be remembered as one of the heroes of the greatest comeback in Farmingdale Lacrosse history! On May 8, 1984, the "Dalers" rallied with 7 goals in under 5 minutes to defeat Manhasset 9-8, and Tim scored the game winning goal with only 9 seconds remaining in the game!

He earned his Bachelor of Science from the United States Naval Academy in 1989. During his time in college, he played Division 1 lacrosse and soccer and received four N* for beating Army four consecutive years. As an Ensign in the Navy, Tim handled himself well in any crisis and showed leadership qualities, making tough decisions when he was called upon to do so. He also pursued graduate school, earning his MBA from Penn State.

All those that knew Tim found him to be an easy man to get to know, and those close to him would often praise his practical style of communication and relaxed approach to life in general. He was uncomplicated and straightforward in his relationships, which allowed him to accept people for who they were. While growing up, some of his best friends were Joey Rez, Anthony Valentine, Brendan Sullivan, Sal Lagano, Bobby Heuskin, Chris Farrell, Glen Sulkess and Al Frishman. Later in life, he became best friends/brothers with the Class of 89 Naval Academy Crew (too many to list), Greg Lilly and Charlie Pucciariello.

On June 17, 2019, Tim exchanged wedding vows with LaToyia (Tee) at Hemingway's Restaurant in Stevensville, Maryland. He was attentive to Tee and so happy. He charmed her with his gift for being able to love freely and fully. A good listener with an engaging personality, Tim was able to bring pleasure and unexpected humor to their relationship. Very much like a kid himself, Tim identified with the inquisitive and creative side of his daughter's, Jada, Jazmine, and Giselle (aka Gigi)'s personalities.

As Service Sales Director & Leader at General & Mechanical Services in Annapolis, Maryland, Tim was a flexible worker who was able to draw the best from others around him, was quick to make necessary decisions and think on his feet.

In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, reading, spending time with his family, and taking long walks with his dog, Atlas. He also found the time to coach T2 Lacrosse and the JV Boy's Lacrosse at St. Mary's Church in Annapolis, Maryland.

Tim is survived by his loving wife LaToyia (Tee), daughters Jada, Jazmine and Giselle (Gigi), his mother Maureen (nee Koenke), brothers Michael, Dennis and Kevin, nieces Jennifer, Kate, Shaunna, Megan, Teagan and his nephews Sean and Padraig. He is predeceased by his father Don.

His wake will be held at John M. Taylor Funeral Home in Annapolis Maryland on Thursday 8/4/22 and Friday 8/5/22 (2-4 PM and 6-8PM both days). His funeral service will be held at St. John Neumann in Annapolis, Maryland on Saturday 8/6/22 at 10:30 AM. He will have a private inurnment at the United States Naval Academy Columbarium in Annapolis, Maryland.

Knowing Tim brings to mind the quote that best represents him: “The best portion of a good man’s life is his little nameless unremembered acts of kindness and of love”. He will be missed dearly by all of us lucky enough to have known him. Rest in Peace #22.
