Sarah P. Palmer "Sally", 82 , a resident of Annapolis for 57 years, died July 27 at Ginger Cove Health Care Center following a 12-month battle with cancer. Born December 28, 1931 in Philadelphia, PA, Sally grew up in Washington, DC and was a graduate of Western High School class of 1949. She graduated from Nursing School with an RN from St Luke's Medical College, Richmond, VA. Sally worked at DC General and Children's Hospitals in the Washington, DC area until she moved to Annapolis in 1960 where she continued to work with her husband, Dr. Barber C. Palmer, Jr., early in his medical practice. Thereafter she was a home maker. She was an active volunteer in the Anne Arundel Medical Center Auxiliary and member of St. Margaret's Episcopal Church. She was a member of the "18 Holers", and enjoyed playing golf at the U.S. Naval Academy Golf Club. She also enjoyed boating and skiing with her husband, gardening, the AAMC Auxiliary and her family. Sally was preceded in death by her husband, Barber C. Palmer, Jr., M.D., whom she married August, 1953 and who died in 1982 and brother, James L.G. Parsons, II. She is survived by her son: Stephen D. Palmer of Annapolis; two daughters, Lynn D. Palmer of Washington, DC and Jennifer A. Palmer of Annapolis; five grandchildren, Clayton, Scott, Julia, David and Brian. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, July 31, at John M. Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester Street, Annapolis.A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Friday, August 1, at St. Margaret's Episcopal Church, 1601 Pleasant Plains Rd., Annapolis. Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Ginger Cove Foundation, Endowment for Employee Scholarships in memory of Sarah Palmer, 4000 River Crescent Drive, Annapolis, MD 21401
