On Thursday, May 7th, 2015, Laura Kramer Gumula passed away at the age of 67. Laura was a proud Annapolitan. She was born, raised and lived in Annapolis, MD her whole live where she attended and graduated from St. Mary’s of Annapolis. She is survived by her husband William Gumula, daughter Terri Gumula, son Gary Gumula, her three grandchildren Sabine, Max and Dade, her brother Fred Kramer and sister Nancy Heller. As a lifelong resident of Annapolis, Laura spent her career working at Anne Arundel Medical Center. After retiring she continued to work there as a volunteer. She lived an extremely active life where she loved to swim, walk, bike, ski and travel. She was an avid reader, movie buff, sports fan and loved to attend performance arts. She could always be found on the sideline or audience of her grandchildren’s activities but she also loved to attend the events of her nieces and nephews and their children, cheering them on and supporting them. She also volunteered her time for Special Olympics, Annapolis Striders, the AAMC and other charitable organizations. She was a founding member of the AAMC Earth Committee. She could be found on Saturday morning's at the Farmer's Market. Family will receive friends and loved ones at the John M. Taylor Funeral Home, Inc. 147 Duke of Gloucester Street, Annapolis, MD 21401 on Sunday May 10th from 3-6pm. A celebration of life service will be held at St. John Neuman Catholic Church 620 N. Bestgate Road, Annapolis, MD 21401 on Monday May 11th at 1:15 pm. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Anne Arundel Medical Center Foundation or to the Lighthouse Homeless Shelter in Annapolis.
