Rebecca Allman Schoenfeld

She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth; her brother, Richard Allman Jr. and sister-in-law, Deborah Allman of Battle Creek, Michigan; and her nieces and nephews: Andrea, Trey, Danielle, and Eric. She is also survived by her former husband and co-parent in raising their daughter, Philip Schoenfeld. She is preceded in death by her parents, Richard Allman Sr. and Noella Allman of Battle Creek, Michigan.

Rebecca was born on Feb 20, 1953 in Battle Creek. She graduated from Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, Michigan in 1974 and went on to earn her Master’s of Arts from Central Michigan University in 1981. After moving to Virginia Beach, Virginia, Rebecca worked for Wyeth Pharmaceuticals as a sales representative, where she received many awards for her outstanding work.

In 2000, she welcomed her daughter, Elizabeth, who was truly the joy of her life. She was inspired by her desire to be the best possible “Mom” and raised Elizabeth to be a mature, poised, and loving daughter, who has excelled at academics, volleyball, and service as the leader of a high school tutoring program. Elizabeth currently matriculates at the University of California-Berkeley.

Beckie was a fierce fighter during her long battle with cancer and was determined to see Elizabeth graduate from high school and begin college. She loved to travel and introduce Elizabeth to the cultures of Italy, France, and Great Britain. One of her most memorable experiences was attending a performance of the Bolshoi Ballet in Russia with Elizabeth. Beckie was also a dedicated member of her sorority, Alpha Sigma Tau, and loved to enjoy time with her sorority sisters. She was a tireless supporter of Elizabeth’s academics and athletics. She was always the first to volunteer to help in the classroom and loved catering food for Elizabeth’s volleyball teams.

A visitation is scheduled on Feb 25 from 4-8pm at Muehlig Funeral Home in Ann Arbor. A funeral service will be held at 11am on Feb 26 at Muehlig Funeral Home and will be immediately followed by a reception there. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Beckie’s life. Beckie will then be interred at Memorial Gardens Cemetary in Battle Creek next to her parents. Condolences can be sent to Elizabeth Schoenfeld at 3193 Asher Road, Ann Arbor, Michigan, 48104.

The family would like to thank St. Joseph’s Hospice Service as well as her dear friends, Amal and Gregory Dalack, Gloria and Karl Frankena, Caroline Wunderlich, Kerry Hugley, her friends from INI, and all of her sorority sisters at Alpha Sigma Tau for their generous support during Beckie’s long battle with cancer.
