Muller, Marcel N. 6/2/1926 - 10/14/2015 Ann Arbor, Michigan Our beloved friend Professor Marcel Nicolas Muller (Emeritus, University of Michigan), died of congestive heart failure in his home in Ann Arbor Michigan. His last months were tough, but his 89 years were filled with gifts both given and received. Marel loved teaching and learning and devoted his life to his students at Lawrence College (1961-66) and at U Michigan, French Language and Literature (1966-1997). Colleagues here and in Europe acknowledge his oral and published contributions to the study of Marcel Proust's magnum opus In Search of Lost Time.Recollections of Marcel's compassionate heart, courtesy toward all, his wit, humility, and brilliant imagination will forever nourish the minds and hearts of all who knew him. Mourners include sister Jeannine Lusas, her husband Edmund Lusas, their children Dan and wife Jill, Paul, and Ann; great-nephews Charles and Thomas and great-niece Tiffany; his lover of 10 years Leonore Gerstein (this writer); many adoring friends; former students and colleagues.
