Jeffrey Anderson passed away peacefully in Jackson, MI, on August 31, 2023, surrounded by family. He was 77 years old. A beacon of strength, love, and wisdom, Jeffrey will be remembered for devoting his life to his beloved family and for his service to his local community.
A distinguished graduate of Wayne State Law School in 1971, Jeffrey served as an attorney with unparalleled dedication for more than 50 years. He matched his commitment to his work with his commitment to community service, serving in leadership roles including President of the Jackson County Bar Association, as well as President of the Elara Caring Hospice Foundation since 1999, and a Salvation Army Board member since 2001.
Outside of his professional achievements, Jeffrey was a fervent University of Michigan football fan, and he fondly remembered attending the last Michigan football championship at the Rose Bowl with his children.
He is survived by his loving wife, Cherrine Anderson. Together, they created invaluable memories, from traveling to once-in-a-lifetime exhibitions for Catherine the Great and King Tut, to unforgettable trips to Graceland and Gettysburg. Their joint sacrifices ensured their children could seek higher education and chart their own successful paths.
Jeffrey leaves behind four children: Paris and his wife, Kristen; Justin; Lyon Lockington and her husband, Eric; and Ariston. His legacy further shines through his cherished grandchildren: Wyndham, Lily, Finnian, and Ronan.
A private funeral service in honor of Jeffrey will be held at Muehlig Funeral Home on September 2, 2023. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Prostate Cancer Foundation.
Embracing Jeffrey’s spirit of resilience and humor, and quoting Norm Macdonald: “I’m pretty sure, I’m not a doctor, but I’m pretty sure if you die, the cancer dies at the same time. That’s not a loss. That’s a draw.”
Jeffrey will forever remain in our hearts, a testament to his strength of character, his joy of life, and the significance of family.
