It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our father, Edward Basil McIntosh, age 83, of Ann Arbor, Michigan passed away unexpectedly after a brief hospitalization at the VA hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan on Thursday, March 2, 2023.
Edward, son of Basil and Pearl McIntosh, and was raised with his three siblings: older brother Dick McIntosh, younger sister, Joan Suder, and younger brother, Gary McIntosh. He is survived by his two daughters, Leslie Frazier and Caitlin Jill McIntosh, his step-son Christopher Wild, his brother Gary and his sister Joan.
Ed graduated from Avondale High School in 1957 and joined the Air Force in 1959. He was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska, and Oscoda, Michigan. Through his hard work and dedication, he achieved the rank of Airman Second Class, at the time of his honorable discharge in 1962. And at age 39, he was able to fulfill his life's dream to become a pilot and got his Private Pilot's license.
Ed was a good father to his children, Leslie, Caitlin and Chris and was blessed with 3 grandchildren, Lily and Ginger McIntosh-Taheri, and Remington Wild. Edward's favorite vacations included visiting his daughter Leslie and her family in Chicago, visiting his daughter Caitlin and her family California, and visiting his step-son Chris and his family in Virginia.
Ed's primary occupation was Realtor and Broker. He owned his own business, McIntosh and Company Realtors in Ann Arbor, Michigan, for over 50 years, and continued to work as a realtor until his passing. He would frequently point out all the houses he had sold, some multiple times, as we drove around the Ann Arbor area.
Ed's favorite pursuits were playing and snuggling with his cat Andy, his best friend for the last 2 years. He especially loved planning and making home improvements, growing peaches in his backyard, spending time with his family, and playing golf, weather permitting. Edward had a sweet tooth and loved strawberries and ice cream, not necessarily in that order. He loved watching and cheering on Michigan sports teams, especially Detroit Tigers baseball and University of Michigan, in any and all sports. Ed was an amazing fix-it man and doing things to help others seemed to come naturally to him, as his family, friends and neighbors will attest. Ed was always willing to help his neighbors with projects, big and small.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Visitation will be held at Muehlig Funeral Chapel, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, on April 14, 2023, from 10:30am to 12:30pm. Edward's Interment of Ashes will be on April 14, 2023 at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan at 2:30pm.
Father, grandfather, brother, friend, neighbor, Ed will truly be missed. Rest in Peace.
