I met Dan in Minnesota in 2007. We and some other friends lived together there, and again in Port Townsend Washington. Dan was one of the smartest and most caring people I've ever met. His intellect, humor, and unwavering curiosity were inspiring to me and many others.

May Dan's memory  be eternal and may our Lord grant comfort  to all those who loved him.

Okay. Here's The deal. Dan was a good friend, but Dan was troubled from jump. I lived with Dan. I knew Dan. I saw him go through his cycles. My experience may be less adulterated. Dan suffered from drug induced schizophrenic episodes starting at 18/19 years old. He used strong hallucinogens that induced the psychotic episodes repeatedly throughout his teens and twenties. I remember the first episode. He was a dishwasher at a restaurant but he had been eating acid. He showed up and underperformed; bus tubs were stacking around the corner and, when confronted, he said, "do you want me to do the dishes, or go to college?".  The next week he showed up in a suit and tie at the same job location believing he was there for a very serious interview. I believe that his experience was completely categorically ignored due to morality bias. "Why don't you get a job. Why don't you stop doing drugs?" Wake up. He needed the kind of available help he never received. Dan was a genius with the world at his fingertips. He understood the world in a deeply philosophic fashion. Dan was also a full blown Schizophrenic living homeless for half a decade before he passed. He was brilliant beyond belief. He knew the trend in any system before anyone. He was a Hedonist beyond the rest of us. He knew how to shill like he invented it. This Bum lived on my couch for a year rent free in his prime. Mental illness is no joke. Dan was like a brother to all of us.  He was the best of us in his own way. I carry him with me like the rest of us.

We did not know your son, but our hearts break for you and your family for your loss. We will pray for the repose of his soul and for you and your family as you grieve.

I remember Danny as a bright, easy going kid who was always a pleasure to have around. He enjoyed playing cards and computer games and seemed to get along well with everyone. I am grateful for his friendship with Solomon and Jacob.

Offering my deepest condolences to the family. I knew Danny during high school and we played music together quite a bit through the AAPS summer music program. I remember him as a fine trombonist and a joy to be around.

I will always remember Danny like a brother. I feel incredibly lucky to have had him in my life for as long as I have: from catechism to elementary school and Tappan middle school, we bonded for many years and I am devastated.

Danny and I were good friends growing up. I have many fond memories of our time together at Burns Park, Tappan, and Community. Danny always had a way to make me laugh and was there for me when I needed a friend. I feel so lucky to have had him in my life and cherish the time we had together.

Although I never had the joy of meeting Danny, I feel like I know him through his wonderful mother Mary. I know that Danny was a beautiful, independent and gentle person and that his family loved him and honored his wishes in an incredible way. I have learned so much as a mother to weather tough times with my own children through talking to Mary so many times over the years (Mighty Good coffee!) and watching the quiet, tenacious and persistent love of Mary for Danny. My heart is with the entire family at this most difficult of times. May Danny's memory be eternal.
