Carol passed away unexpectedly on November 5, 2024 at St. Joseph Mercy Oakland. Born in Detroit, Michigan on February 10, 1945, she was the daughter of Edward J. and Ruth M. (Barker) Wolanski. Carol graduated from St. Thomas the Apostle High School in 1963 and attended Cleary College. She was a member of the Royal Oak Church of Christ.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Lawrence G. Barnes, her parents, grandparents, brother Edward L. Wolanski, and great-niece Victoria E. Staebler.
She is survived by her siblings Linnette A. Dowdell, Kathleen F. (Mike) Staebler, Mary L. (Dirk) Mohle, nephews M. Jeffrey Staebler and Eric J. Mohle, and nieces Bonnie M. Batyik and Rachael A. Wolanski, cousins Phyllis Krasnicki, Donna Murray and their families, and fellow outdoor sporting enthusiast and good friend Dennis Wolfe.
Carol along with her husband Larry lived a life of striving to keep the world of hunting, sporting, and shotguns alive. The Gunnerman Book business thrived for over 46 years and was the absolute go to place for the best of the best of sporting literature. Carol and Larry had a passion for training bird dogs for hunting and owned several as beloved pets over the years.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at Muehlig Funeral Chapel on December 6, 2024 at 12:30pm. Visitation with the family will begin at 11:00am.
